Frequently asked questions.

What is specialty/evidence-based treatment?

Similar to other medical treatments, the field of psychology has several treatments that have been studied internationally in clinical trials and found to be superior to treatment-as-usual for certain diagnoses. These empirically-studied treatments are now considered the gold-standard approach for the treatment of psychological disorders.

How do I know if we will work well together?

The fit between a client and therapist is a very important part of the treatment. I offer free 15 minute phone consultations where I can provide some information about myself, my treatment approach and what psychotherapy with me may look like. I will also ask questions about what your are looking for, so that we may both decide if we think we would work well together. If we decide during the course of our work together that you may be better served by a different type of treatment or provider, I will help you find an appropriate referral.

Do you accept insurance?

Dr. Spanos is an in-network provider contracted with Providence Health Plans and PacificSource (Commercial and Community Solutions). Please inquire about your behavioral health coverage and co-payments by contacting these insurance companies directly.

If you have other insurance coverage, please call your insurance company to ask about their out-of-network benefits. In this case, I will not be able to bill insurance for you, but will provide you with a Superbill to submit with your claims forms in order for you to seek reimbursement from your insurance company directly.

There is also limited availability for sliding scale sessions.

For clients who are uninsured or who do not plan to seek reimbursement from their insurance company for sessions, you are covered by the No Surprises Act. Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Dr. Bledsoe is not contracted with any insurance companies. Thus, he is an out-of-network provider for all insurance companies. He can provide a comprehensive Superbill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Please contact your insurance carrier directly to find out about reimbursement for a neuropsychological assessment.

How long does treatment take?

The length of treatment depends on several factors including your presenting problem, the type of treatment used, how much effort you put into treatment and the severity of your symptoms. However, for many treatments I offer, a typical course may be 3-6 months.
